The Carbon Removals Certification Framework (CRCF) establishes the EU’s first voluntary certification system for permanent carbon removals, carbon farming and carbon storage in products. The first certification methodologies were adopted in February 2026, covering direct air capture and storage, biogenic emissions capture and biochar‑based removals.
