Development of GHG calculators for Dorf Ketal’s Innovative Process Pathway under ISCC EU Certification

Established in 1992, Dorf Ketal Chemicals (Dorf Ketal) is a global producer of specialty engineered chemistries serving the hydrocarbon and industrial chemical sectors. With a global presence, the company delivers innovative solutions for complex and mission‑critical applications in refineries and petrochemical plants worldwide. Dorf Ketal began developing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions calculators to support alignment with ISCC EU requirements and certification as part of its sustainability journey.
Dorf Ketal partnered with Meo Carbon Solutions (MCS) to support the development of ISCC EU‑compliant GHG calculation tools, supply‑chain emissions optimization and certification readiness between 2024 and 2025.
The Challenge
To meet the requirements of its downstream supply chain partners and facilitate access to European and UK fuel markets, Dorf Ketal required its process setup to be ISCC EU certified. Achieving ISCC EU certification requires strict adherence to detailed audit procedures and methodological rules, including the development of accurate and transparent GHG emissions calculators. For Dorf Ketal, this meant capturing emissions across complex fuel production processes while accounting for upstream and downstream supply‑chain impacts. Beyond compliance, the calculator needed to provide actionable insights to support emissions reduction and continuous improvement.
Our Solutions
MCS supported Dorf Ketal by developing tailored GHG emissions calculators for two individual supply chains aligned with ISCC EU guidelines for fuel production. This process included structured data collection, methodological alignment and consistent refinement of the models through close collaboration. In parallel, MCS provided consulting support to identify opportunities to optimize supply‑chain emissions and guided Dorf Ketal through key certification requirements under the ISCC EU framework.
Our Approach
MCS focused on building a transparent, audit‑ready model rooted in ISCC EU methodologies, which are compliant under the European and UK renewable energy frameworks. Large datasets were structured and validated to reflect real production and logistics conditions, with continuous updates incorporated as new data and insights became available. MCS drew on experience across multiple GHG calculation frameworks and expertise in ISCC EU to ensure the solution remained robust, adaptable and suitable for ongoing compliance and reporting needs—delivering practical value beyond certification.
The Results
The project resulted in a validated, ISCC EU‑compliant GHG calculator that Dorf Ketal can use for certification, audits and ongoing sustainability reporting. It improved visibility into emissions across the supply chain and enabled data‑driven decision‑making to support long‑term decarbonization goals. Overall, the collaboration positioned Dorf Ketal to meet regulatory expectations while strengthening its sustainability performance and market credibility.
